but yet i get a rejection letter today telling me my experience and education do not closely align with the FIVE job openings for a freaking nuclear medicine technologist position.

damn dude, that totally frustrating. my first thought is they just sent out a generic reply letter, because there were likely too many applicants as seems to be common in this struggling economy.
