Where were you when you heard Kurt Cobain died?

I was in the bike shop, working on a bike with the radio on when the news came over. I was struck dumb and just stood there silently and still for like 30 seconds.

I lived in the Pacific Northwest and I loved grunge. He was an impact on my generation, a total sea change in how we saw music and rock. But that was it. Music and Fashion. He didn't give me a value system to base my life on.

And then Michael had to go and upstage Farah. Always trying to be in the spotlight. Yes Thriller was another seminal album that impacted a generation. But this is how I will remember him.........
"What do Michael Jackson and K-Mart have in common?"
"They both have boys pants half off."

The guy was just an entertainer with what turned into an extremely flawed adult life. He doesn't deserve my reverence anymore than Kurt took 30 seconds of my time.

Real people doing real things under tough circumstances are the real heroes, the people who really should be mourned when they suddenly pass.

Where were you when M.J. died? Who cares.
