Heading to work this morning I was merging onto the freeway and got a BIG dirty look from the Prius driver I passed. I don't know what his problem is but let me just rant a little bit....
1. I am legally able to go in the HOV or carpool lane just like you pal! So don't give me a dirty look for being a single person using the carpool lane, you are in it to!
2. Guess what!?!?!I get 65mpg on my motorcycle easily! When it was stock I was getting over 70mpg. What are you getting?
3. Don't be mad that my little 250cc vehicle is faster than your 1.5l (or 1.8l) engined vehicle.
4. Guess what else, mine only cost $6,000 brand new. And when it comes time for it to be recycled I will have less to put in a landfill than you. And let's not even get started on the material in your batteries!(lead, nickel, lithium and so on) Mine also required less resources to produce, can be parked more places and costs less to operate.
5. I watched the Topgear test, at 80mph a BMW M3 gets better gas mileage than you do. Hmmm, M3 or Prius....? That is no choice at all! Even when I am at the racetrack I get 45mpg. Yes, racetrack. Not Wholefoods parking lot or the yoga studio where I know you will be found at.
6. I have a hybrid as well. A Lexus one. That gets 20% better gas mileage that its gas only version and is faster 0-60mph.
What have you got? A roof and an over inflated sense of environmental superiority. And from where I sit, neither of those count for very much.....
