In the past few months I have heard women around me talking about their dogs in this sort of manner, "Oh, dogs are better than men. They will never leave you. They will always love you. They are always happy to see you. They won't cheat on you." Generally comparing dogs more favorably than men.
But guess what? "Dog" is a negative appellation for a man. Your oh-so-better-than-a-man dog? Well he will still try to hump your leg. Constantly. You're still fixing all his meals. And buying them. And constantly cleaning up his crap. Piles of his crap. And he doesn't have a job, only wants to play.
Good choice girls, good choice.

Dogs don't talk back, or gripe if I spend too much money shopping. Hahhaa
ReplyDeleteRealistically speaking, I wouldn't say a dog is better than having a partner, but dogs are fun, crap collector part aside. There happy nature makes me happy. I really don't have to worry about a dog (metaphorically) breaking my heart, unless he runs away.
Also, I've spent time caring for men, or cooking for them, and what have I gotten? Not a companion, thats for sure, but instead someone who doesn't want my kindness and love. A dog, especially one living in a shelter, isn't going to throw it in your face like "no thanks, that's just not good enough for me".
Like I said, I would like nothing more than to find a good partner, but for now, I'm on the search for a good dog to adopt.
if read personally, i knew this would get people. if read tongue in cheek, it still would.
ReplyDeletei've had 4 dogs in my life, so i do have some experience.
i just happen to almost always like people more than animals.
