Wild Horses

I hiked down the cliff to go surfing again at Black's Beach today. Since it was sunny the nudists were out in force. Ugh. That's the last thing I want thrusted upon me, naked old men. Pun intended.

The surfcast I looked at and the reality facing me on the beach were totally at odds. Nothing surfable really. So I grabbed the GoPro and my homemade pistol grip from a few posts down and headed into the water.

I've been wanting to shoot video of my surfing friends in the water and I figured this was a good way to practice and get comfortable in waves with no one around. My ears were TOTALLY filled with sand as well. Took like a bulb syringe in the shower and such to finally clear and clean the sand out.

Let me know if you like the results! Or wanna be a surfing subject for me sometime.

  1. I'll be your surfing subject! Now all I have to do is figure out how I'm getting down to San Diego . . .

  3. the 3rd shot and the 9th shot are my favs.

i like the way the implied perspective lines and the shapes of both the cliffs and the waves mirror/parallel each other and eventually converge.

good work for your first time. can't wait to see more!
