the rescuer

Earlier this week I went sea kayking in La Jolla Cove. While out there I saw a guy with two of his buddies, unable to get back into his kayak.

He was in his 50s and outta shape. Definitely looked like he was in trouble. So I jumped in and swam over to their group. Once up on him I could tell he was tired and they were at a loss on what to do.

So I showed him how to get in his kayak by himself. He couldn't really do it so I helped him. He was soo exhausted and thankful. I can just imagine him being pulled in the water behind his kayak by his friends until he had a heart attack from swimming or trying to get himself back in.

Yesterday on my way to a much deserved In-N-Out I got a phone call from a number I didn't recognize so I ignored it. Then the voice mail alert hit. So I call and listen. Someone I know was stranded and needed help getting their now non-working scooter picked up and them both taken home.

I was right at the place they were when I got the phone call. How crazy?!?!?! So I turned right around and I was totally the person they needed for help. I had the truck and the stuff to load a two wheeled vehicle and haul it home for them.

Those are just two instances this week where I have been the right person at the right time to help people. I am not even going to tell the stories of the past week or two where I have used my new EMT knowledge to help people, but I have.
