hmmmmm, a $2,500 FSR and a $1,200 Stumpjumper and what do we do with them?? Just lay 'em down in the truck bed.
WRONG!
Why? Mountain bikes frames are aluminum. Would you want to be riding a soda can with a dent in it at 30mph down a rocky trail? Me neither.
Yakima low-pro bike mount
2x4 cut to 3' lengths
u-hook screw
blue spray paint
2" wood screws
1/2" plywood base cut to 3'x1'
Cut your raw lumber to size, screw it all together, offset the bike mounts, thread in hook, spray paint it all blue and "tah dah", you have an in-bed-bike-mount made for less than $50 and one hour of your time that works in any truck or even van.
Cheap protection for almost 4 grand of bikes!
I never knew you were so handy and crafty!:>
