Thursday I can't even remember. So must not have done much or I hit my head hard sometime during the day......
Friday I went with the Mighty Hawaiian and his daughter up to the World Championship of Brazilian Jiu Jitsu in Long Beach. It was pleasant to hang out with them and have someone else drive.
I got to hang out with my Atos crew and I felt ready. I was in the bull pen farrrrrrr to long though as my mat was running behind. Put it this way, I had over a 101 degree fever and lost two pounds just waiting for my first match. Yeah, a two hour wait. Dumb.
Even dumber was my performance. I got worked positionally by my opponent. My mind is still too slow. I simply just haven't trained enough to match up well at this level of competition. But I did better than last year, so I'm happy with that. And I'm hardly 100%. But yeah, I got armbarred at about 5:30 of a 7 minute fight and lost.
Then it was time for 4 pieces of pizza, a soda, a gatorade and some kettle corn. Then it was DQ for a treat on the way home. And that night was a friend's birthday party where I had about 6 "virgin" mixed drinks and 4 super freaking delicious street tacos.
Saturday was the "World Famous" Camp Pendleton Mud Run. There were a few glitches getting there but we eventually got to the right place and hooked up with our team. No real offense to this group of people, but I have to say that computer programmers and other nerds do not make the best group to draw entrants from for a 10k race in the sun involving running, hills, water crossings, mud and an obstacle.
I ran with Dr Sombrero right up to about 1/2 mile from the finish where I stopped to wait for my team and he ran in for his individual finish. Completing the whole freaking race in a perfectly dry and clean sombrero. NICE.
45 minutes later and a few hundred people going past, one lady almost puking on my shoes, the team finally all caught up. Even the ones who puked and were limping. But they warriored up and finished. We were all smiling and telling our story and enjoying the experience.
The place seeems more set up for the party afterward than the real race. Warrior Dash was more challenging for the runner. I will for sure pay to do that one again and will hopefully be asked back to fill out a corporate team for Pendleton next year.
Oh, and I ate a CA buritto and ice cream on the way back. And bought a new car. And watched the new x men movie.
Today will be watching the MotoGP race in Barcelona, the finals of the Mundials for black belts, maybe the French Open, going to church and possibly back to the Hawaiian's house.
There ya go, lots of words about what I did, a little bit of action in it and no pictures as of yet. But rest assured there will be some. Maybe even a shirtless one or two. hahahahahhaa.
