The Curse of the Purple Belt

In the first week of February 2010 I was awarded my purple belt in brazilian jiu jitsu form Fabio Santos, one of the few red and black belts. It was quite the honor and quite sudden. I figured I had maybe a year to go till I got the purple.

So first week of February I get my belt. Second week I am in the hospital and sick with stupid Crohns disease. I still decide to fight Pan Ams and Mundials as a new purple belt. I get a default medal in the Pans and get trounced by wunder kid Ronaldo Candido from Atos at the Mundials.

In competition as a purple belt I am 0-5. Not what I wanted.....

As soon as I got my purple belt my health has been horrible. I've never ever had even 6 weeks of unbroken training in the year and half since I was promoted.

The purple belt seemingly is cursed for me. No training. No wins. No good.

If Mars Blackman did jj, "Money it's gotta be the belt!"
