Mr. Toad's Wild Ride

Just like Frog and Toad were friends, my mountain bike and I are friends. And since "more" if often better, 5 of us and our friendly bikes decided to ride around at Snow Summit all day yesterday.

It was a gravity day and we rode the lift up all day for a total of 7 runs. So in 8 hours of riding and such we got in 7 downhill runs for a total of about 28 miles!

Myself, I was able to hit this huge log ride the first time and not crash. I also jumped a few downed trees that only one other person in our group did. Me and this other guy were also the only ones who never really crashed.

And I was given a job offer to work at a bike shop part time while on this ride.

things that make you go hmm....

If you want to keep your house from betting burglarized you think about security from the burglar's perspective, not from the police's view.

I guess CNN was thinking the same thing when they have a story up on their website titled "Nurses offer tips to survive hospital stay". In each item a nurse goes on to tell an experience they or a family member had where they as patients stopped a deadly medical error. Funny thing though....in each item it was a NURSE who was also doing the incredibly stupid thing that was going to kill someone else.

Takes one to know one......

EMT

So I passed my EMT class and skills tests at Nat Poly last week with an 86% on the written final and a similar score on the skills test. This week I took my national registry exam for EMT. My score will be paper mailed to me in a few days but my email notification said I passed. Yeah!

This was an adaptive test on a computer. You could have up to 130 questions in 2 hours 10 minutes. I was done in 28 minutes and 70 questions.

Now to buy my URL, get some supplies together, get a CA EMT license and start doing the plan for "that".

(I also need to call Samsung for warranty work on the TV, make a dentist appointment, mail CM his blanket, go to jiu jitsu, fix the paper holder in the bathroom, register for microbiology and biochemistry at SDSU and reapply to PA school at the U and Riverside)

Vista sucks....

I'm no computer nerd, but after two years of using it, even I am qualified to say, "Vista sucks!"

Bile Martini

Before college I had a room mate named Martin. Martin's nickname was "Martini" due to his excessive ETOH consumption. In spite of that, he had a reasonable head on his shoulders for things and eventually went on to become an officer in the US Army.

Well, at the time we were living together I had a very tempestuous relationship, major drama as they say. Fear paralyzed me and I constantly avoided doing things that though hard, would have helped me then.

Martini in a stupor one morning told me to do, "Feared first. Do the thing you fear or hate or worry about the most FIRST. Get it done and you will feel better." My modus opurendi at that time was to do the thing I feared most dead last, if at all.

And then I tried it.

And it worked.

K. has expressed a desire to live here. So I had to make a phone call about it. My parasympathetic nervous system was raging this morning. I tried doing other things, but I just couldn't focus. So I made the call.

Did I get an immediate solution? No. Did everything go how I wanted? No. But I feel better, I started the process and I hopefully did the right thing.

Thanks Martini.

Because I can

I am growing Wolverine style facial hair.

I also successfully swallowed and passed an Airsoft BB.
