sunny so-cal and motorcycles, what could be better?

Nothing I want to type here! HAHAHA. No really, I went to Adams Motorsports Park up in Riverside today. It only takes like 95 minutes to get there even with traffic.

Is there any other place where you can live near the beach, near a racetrack, near well, you get the idea.

There have not been enough supermoto guys so Wednesday is now a shared day. At least the dirt section is open today though as a concession to what used to be a supermoto only day at the track.

Early this morning they had a group of guys drifting on part of the track. Bunch of beater 240Z's but they were nice guys. I of course took a ride. Pretty fun!! Seems like it's hard on the car, but still super fun. SIDEWAYS! wooooo hoooo!!

I hit the jumps awesome, saved a few front end slides and just had a great time.

My hauler though....not so good! I have a crappy homemade JoeHauler copy from a friend. It is not cutting it anymore. The tie-down hook came out and BAM goes the handle bar against the back window of the Lexus! That was fun to fix in the middle of traffic. Not. Fortunately the window didn't break and I was close to home so it could have been much worse. I just need a 'real' hitch hauler now. An extra $300 I didn't make this month. But better in the long run. Or a truck.............

How lazy is this?!?!?!

As you read, one of the xmas gifts was an XM radio. I love it!! Totally wayyyy better than 'regular' radio. It was a total pain to install and not wanting the permanent sticky mount solution I of course did a DIY zip-tie solution.

It is just this /--------------------------/ far out of easy reach. Solution? HA! A remote control! Yes, that is it!!!

Now I can GPS, text aaaaand use a remote while driving. And eating. And speeding. While towing a motorcycle. In the dark.

picking myself up

No one will lift you when you fall. You have to lift yourself. I applied today as a non-matriculated student for the University of Utah for Summer 09. I plan on taking Biochem and Biology again to strengthen my re-application to Physicians Assistant school there in late 2009 for the 2010 class.

Amazing things.
1. My Netflix.com cue is down to 4 movies and I have seen pretty much everything I wanted to. Now I am down to just renting weird crap just to watch something. Any suggestions?
2. All of my xmas stuff is totally put away and gone on the 27th. YES!
3. I could only run 2 miles today. Odd. To many holiday pounds piled on I think...
4. The jiu jitsu academy is closed for another week cause of the holidays. I'm going crazy!
5. Doing a clean/hidden install of a XMexpress radio is harder than you would imagine.
6. Today was the first time I had ridden my motorcycle in almost 2 weeks. Believe it or not.

Christmas Recap

Thank you to everyone who sent a card or letter.
What a delicious Christmas dinner! Cranberry stuffing stuffed chicken breast, green beans sauteed with onions and bacon, field greens salad, mashed potatoes and gravy, baked acorn squash and sparkling grape juice. What you don't see are the desserts; home made pumpkin pie and anglefood cake bars with my whip cream, marshmallow cream and peppermint candy blended frosting.
Having fun in the rocks just north of Scripps pier.
A very merry San Diego Christmas in 2008!

Merry Giftmas

Really, the name should be changed to Giftmas instead of Christmas. This morning I did read Luke chapter 2, the shortest part of the NT telling of his birth. Just to keep myself grounded in the real meaning of the day.

But you don't want my theological beliefs, you want to know what's new in my funtime emporium. =)
-XM radio for the Lexus. (man that was tough to install!!)
-recreational mountain bike shoes
-a carved onyx lizard
-food and crafty gifts
-lots of long sleeved tops from the Gap and Banana Republic
-Cytomax mix
-airsoft rounds
-candy
-keychain Swiss Army pocket knife
-Sonicare toothbrush with UV sterilization for the brush heads
-money
Plenty of nice things from very nice people. I appreciate them all and all of you. I love you and Merry Christmas!!

December 24, 2008

Wow, I think the past few days I must have been allergic to my blog. To go 3 days without posting is quite unlike me. "Real life" must have been very pressing. Not.

Yesterday I picked my 'rents up from the aeropuerto. I then introduced them to the joys of california burritos. Yes, burritos with fries in them can be delicious! Now they know!

Evening time was spent at the Poinsettia Bowl. It was a good game. BSU lost by one point! So much for undefeated... We all had a great time and that is what counts. (losers always say that)

Today will be shopping for the holiday dinner, showing my 'rents some sights of SD they still haven't seen and then going out to dinner at The Linkery. Yum. Oh, and I need to do a quick workout in there somewhere also!

Maybe I will post some pics up as well..........

Double RR

First I don't get interviewed for PA school at the U of U. Then when trying to find a nuclear medicine job in the SL valley I notice the U of U has a 15 month certificate program for nuc techs!!! ARGH, no wonder I can't find a nuc med job, a local university hospital system pumping out people year after year for what I do. ARGH!!

I first looked at all the hospital's websites trying to find a nuclear medicine job then I went to the Utah state government website trying to find health physics jobs. No luck. Monster, Careerbuilder and others all lead me to a big fat dead end when it comes to any sort of nuclear medicine or health physics job in Utah.

Worthless I tell you, worthless.

The only other things I have any real job experience doing is being a bicycle mechanic or a produce clerk at a grocery store. Those are not jobs you find on the internet....

Am I really going to have to start totally over with no worthwhile experience or skills?

rainy math

500,000 San Diego drivers X .25 inch rain = 120 car accidents in 3 hours

2008 you're outta here!!

It's close enough to the end of the year I think I can do a review of this year. Pretty simply I think I am going to put up a high point and low point or two for each month. Maybe a little bit of travelogue as well. So sit there and enjoy the rowdy version of 2008 in all its glory!

January- The high point has got to be my first trip to Hawaii and all the cool things I did there. An excellent trip and I would love to go back.

February-The low point was spending 2 weeks straight in the hospital. Oh, and losing my UCSD job due to it. The high point was getting my new motorcycle!

March-Doing 4 track days on the supermoto! What fun.

April-Visiting my biological father for the very first time. Wow. Was that something. Going to the Moto X-Games and seeing a double back flip. Building my very nice looking retaining wall at the house.

May-Duh, my birthday! Always the high point of this month. My western states tour was amazing as well. California->Utah->Wyoming->South Dakota->Texas->California.

June-Concerts! Snoop Dogg, 311, Jack Johnson.

July-Low point was getting let go from my County of San Diego job. I smooth talked my way into something I wasn't 100% qualified to do. Eventually that caught up to me. I would like Independence Day to be the high point, but I don't think it was.

August-Sea kayaking and camping on Anacapa. Being promoted to blue belt in brazilian jiu jitsu.

September-Easily the high points in this month were going to my first MotoGP race!! Vale Vale Vale! As well as my first trip to NYC. Cool.

October-The Russian dinner. My first trip back to the Bay Area since I moved away. Discovering that I really enjoyed trail running and running a few races.

November-Finally winning the gopher wars! Thanksgiving with J,K and M was delicious and great.

December-Winning the gingerbread house competition and having my parents here for xmas are pretty good high points. The low point was not even getting interviewed to even be accepted into the graduate program I applied to.

W2

It's that time of year almost. Time to think about taxes! Hahhaha, what did you think? Presents?

In my totally predictable way of being unpredictable I will be receiving 3 W2's this year.

UCSD
County of San Diego
Nuclear Brokers

I feel like I had a 4th job in there somewhere this year...who knows. Very few years have I only had a single W2. Maybe 6 years out of them since I started working at fifteen years old.

the house that candy built

This is the finished product as it is judged, but minus a dusting of powdered sugar to replicate light snowfall.
Thank you for all the positive feedback.

ps-yes I got the pond to hold water.

levity

To lighten my blog's sky of cloudiness, here is a picture of me with a plastic animal.

no trabajo

So, my entire schedule of work for December has been cancelled.................. Good thing I have this $35,000 student loan for a BS degree that everyone thinks is worth so much.

BS indeed.

now

I know I have much to be thankful for. If I died tonight I would feel I have lived a greater and fuller life than 72% of the world. Bit I live in the 'now' and not my past.

But weeks like this remind me why I used to take Wellebutrin and live the life I did. I can't even remember feeling like this in quite a while.

To those who love me and it affects, I'm sorry. Yes, I know things will get better but I live 'now' and not in the future.

TMI? To bad.

1st Place

Here is the gingerbread house through some of it's stages, from my paper mache base to where it sits now, just needing me to finish the pond and ad ribbon around the base.

.

I do know one thing, I really want to live and work someplace outside of the US again. 3 months in Iraq was not enough. I want more.

nippon chocodile

This angry red crocodile(a child in costume) is filled with yummy yummy chocolate star shaped cookies!! Who would have guessed?

brain storming

alright, so my goal to be a PA is basically shut down. so now i need to figure something else out. ive checked all the resources for nuclear medicine techs and there is nothing open for me in SLC.

i have family who needs me near them right now, so i am very set on moving to SLC. so that kinda limits me, thus why i applied to the Uni of Utah for PA school.

so that leaves me with finding another MS to pursue, another BS to earn or some other job type thingy. using my past jobs and hobbies and junk like that i am just going to list all the crap that comes to mind from plausible to outrageous. just to get my mind flowing.

-go back to working in the produce department somewhere. i did this for like 8 years so i think i could pick it back up pretty quickly
-bicycle mechanic. i did this for two years as a second job. but that was before disc brakes and full suspension. so i would need to learn some stuff before i was good at it again. UBI??
-get my website about radiation safety for medical imaging patients up and running.
-write a book or magazine articles
-go back to school for something different
-medical device sales
-underwear model. HA HA

wow, i just really dont have anything more than that.....

and the loser is.................

I received my email about PA school today. I was not selected to be interviewed at this time. I was informed that if others did not accept the offer to be interviewed I could possibly be contacted on December 19th to be offered an interview.

So my chance to get into PA school how I wished for is currently a "no" with a "maybe" in 9 days.So let me explain the selection process. You apply (which is a two day process in and of itself) along with 700 other people. For the 40 available openings. Then 90 of you are selected to be interviewed (the step I just failed). Those 90 people are interviewed over a few days and tested and such. If less than about 60 accept being interviewed then they go to the wait list, which is where I am. Of the people interviewed about 45 get offers extended. The program takes 40. So in the beginning I had a 90 in 700 chance of getting interviewed and a 45% chance of getting in at that stage. Now I am at about a 8% to 9% chance of being interviewed and accepted.

I think my essay was strong, my work experience average and my grades just below. As a whole person I think I am great for being a PA. But certain places on paper, I guess I am not. And due to why and where I want to move in the first place, this is the only PA school to which I could apply.

Time to follow my own advice then, "Action is the best response to misfortune."

PS: I ALSO HAVE MISPLACED MY HOUSE, ACURA, LEXUS AND MAILBOX KEYS AND CAN NOT FIND THEM.

sunday self portrait

intelligent design/creationism/genesis story

And on the first day Rowdy assembled the gingerbread house elements. And he saw that it was good.

do not ask for whom the bells toll.....

I love E.H. But that is not the subject here.

The Big 3 automakers here in the US should be allowed to die. Why?

1. It is totally contrary to the founding principals of this nation to have what is on a functional level, nationalization of companies and industries.
2. If/When this bailout fails, as a taxpayer I pay for it. If it prospers I do not receive a dividend. The bailout effectively makes me a shareholder in each company, with all the risk but none of the reward.
3. Their products are not so special and unique that viable alternatives can not be found elsewhere. They are not the only game in town, as it were.
4. Toyota, Honda and BMW all have large production facilities in the US and employ US workers. Do they need a bailout? No.

Business could be described as a competition for my money. If the Big 3 are not winning this battle, for whatever reason, they should be allowed to die. This is not second grade PE where we all get to swing at the ball till we hit it. Some kids are gonna strike out.

Big 3, if you can't make it without 15 BILLION taxpayer dollars, good riddance.

konichiwa! well, not really. but......

So I did not get selected for an one-on-one interview to be cast for "I Survived a Japanese Gameshow". But I did get an email inviting me to what basically is open casting for the show. It is Saturday the 13th up in Anahiem. What do you think? Should I go? And how do I stand out in this sort of thing....??? No matter what it would be a new experience for me and I am desperately needing an injection of NEW.

my weekend

Friday was a fitfull day. Just doing what I did made me soo tired. I of course spent the night on the couch in a state of semi-sleep.

Saturday was a fun motorcycle ride with MM and one of his co-workers from Texas. We went out to the border and up in the hills there. Then it was time to buy the dreaded xmas tree. Which is still undecorated. Finally it was grocery shopping and eating real food for the first time in days.

Sunday morning I covered the disaster response plan I made for church. Then AK came over for burgers I fxed on the grill. I made them from ground buffalo this time. So very tasty!! The Sunday evening was spent playing games and eating delicous homemade ice cream and G-ride and Marzipans place. And I finally slept well!!

Thanks to TCB!!

I spent 2.5 hours this morning tearing my dryer down to the drum. Last week I had an error code (an error code on a dryer!!! is everything computerized now?!?!?)

Due to the teachings and example from TCB I was able to tear the dryer down, use tools correctly, understand how things interact mechanically, diagnose the issue, problem solve on the fly and basically just take care of it myself.

Dryer fixed, money saved, lesson learned. And my tools were all put away right afterward and my work area cleaned up.

Thanks to TCB I can do all these household chores and such. I can install a garbage disposer, fix the dryer, change the oil in the car, do brakes and all the other miriad little things you learn growing up to be a man.

the lol horseman of the apocalypse

I don't watch reality tv shows, I don't eat fast food, I dont like pop music but I do have one guilty pleasure, lolcats. And now that I know how to make my own.... well, consider yourself warned. Or it's the begining of the end.

how do you know?

How do you know you're near the US/Mexican border? When you can look down and find used flex-cuffs on the trail without even trying.

doing my part

I was kinda teasing someone last night about being "crunchy" and "granola". It was then I realized I had joined a farm co-op at one time. I drive a hybrid Lexus or fuel efficient motorcycle. I stopped buying bottled water, got rid of my PBA plastic bottles and now just use a stainless steel Kleen Kanteen. A trip to the grocery store means using my own cloth bags.

Glass house? Stones? Me?

trail running ruckus

How many mistakes can I make in one run, let me count the ways.........
1.not telling anyone I was going for a run.
2.not telling anyone where I was running.
3.leaving my water, cell phone and such in the car.
4.running by myself.
5.not warming up.
6.running on a trail marked "closed for your safety".
7.charging downhill and rolling my ankle badly.

Hmmm, nope, can't think of anything else. Oh yeah, and this was up and down hilly terrain a little over 2 miles from the car. It took me 45 minutes to walk/hobble those two miles back to it.

I hate this!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

enigma

no, not the moody band nor the german coding machine but a little bit of both actually. it's a 5x5 matrix, the letter 'z' missing. each letter is represented by a number from its column and row. randomized of course.
"-" is a space, and "." just differentiates a new letter in a series comprising a word.
i'll paypal $10 to whoever emails me the correct translation.

tuesday thoughts

1. Money no object, what is the best shaving cream for someone with a coarse beard who shaves daily and has sensitive skin??

2. Why do I have to have dreams about zombies chasing me so frequently? I got killed in the one that woke me up yelling at 0430 this morning.

3. Can you guess what I got in the mail today with a return address from Tehran Iran?
