"Squid Pro Go" or "All this for that!?"

So part of coming home from the hospital when I did was coming home with a PICC line. For you lay person this is a fancy IV going from a vein in my upper arm into my SVC (superior vena cava) near the right atrium of my heart!

Since this is such a fancy thing, it requires a bit of specialized care with it at home. I mean, look at all these supplies to care and feed for my man/machine interface!

No more squid arms!!!!!!!!!

URGENT-Press Release-

A great and rare Rowdy was released back into the wild as of 5pm PST on Wednesday the 27Th, exactly 14 days after being taken into captivity.

The subject appears to be an excellent specimen but will need a month of recuperative time in it's native habitat to be able to fend completely for himself again.

The World Wide Rowdystyle Foundation would like to thank all those who helped in the capture, care, feeding and release of the magnificent creature. May his stay be lengthened and invigorating.

THANK YOU ALL

a. Just released from the State Pen, drug addict, moaned and snored constantly, fought with the staff, completely trashed room, TV and lights on 24/7. Crappiness High Score!!
b. Super sick to begin with, treated his family bad, randomly yelled stuff, jumped out of bed and knocked himself out, threatened to hit a nurse. A crotchedy old man to worthless in one night. Totally Altered Mental State to where they moved him away from me it was so bad.
c. Hated his food, wouldn't take his medicine and I had to show him how to get out of the building 'cause he just walked out of the room.
d. In reply to "What did you do for a living?", he replied variously Colonol in the Special Forces, construction company owner, retired NFL player, owner of all the McDonalds' in SD County Wal-Marts. Rrrriiiigght.
e. Not medically sophisticated so everything was frightening to him and was a nervous nelley.
f. A decent guy, just old and blind with lots of problems.
g. Nurse, "Here are your perscriptions for Vicoden, Valium and Flexeril." Young Narc, "Oh, I already have those…." He will learn, just take 'em and run.
x. I only rank up here because of the weighting of how many days I have been here. I'd better if my days together score was only 3.

At around 0140AM on Monday I pooped something solid out. Regular color, form and about finger sized. But I did it. The act may have been 3 or 4 days in the making, but it is a sign of sorts. Now my test later on Monday can help quantify it!

GO GUTS GO! GO GUTS GO! Open up stricture, or I'll blow your house down!

PS-I am writing up a little primer about living with some of the more unique Kaiser patients I have had to room with over the weeks! Crazy!

Monday the 25th

Tomorrow I have a small bowel follow through. It is to check and see if we need to abandon the medical treatment and have a surgical intervention instead. So a better plan should be formulated by Tuesday the 26Th.

I have 220cm left of small bowel. Short Gut Syndrome starts at <200cm. Not much of a margin there, eh?

Thank you all for the prayers and support! I love you, need you and am great full for each blessing and trial that I may have.

Thankful

"All die, but not all live."

I have lived a life that I am happy with and I am glad I am still alive to continue to do so! I am going to live life, not just exist!

That is my Rowdy-word!

Crohn's Disease

I am still in the hospital here in San Diego. Today is day 10. I am here at least through Tuesday the 26th.

Fun times....................

So yah, all is not fun and games for me! Do you think I would be in the hospital for WEEKS just for the hell of it? Sir, no sir.

Ok, I am done ranting. I prefer to have a positive outlook, it will only help with everything.

There you have it, still here, still sick, still Rowdy.

We have the technology, we can rebuild him...

Good thing I have health insurance, that's all I can say. I am still in the hospital, still in for the long haul to get better. Still only IV and liquids, though I did have a BM tonight, which is a big feat when you are fighting a small bowel obstruction!!

Remicade gave me no side effects. I am taking insulin to control my blood sugar from the steroids and TPN, which is driving me crazy. I have a paranoid fear it will make me diabetic. Unreasonable, but still a fear. Hahahaha.

I decided to have elective surgery while I am in here. No, not for my Morton's toe, but to remove any last vestige of squid from my motorcycle riding. I think I should heal fine from this....

Hospitals I have been admitted to:

None of them psychiatric! I know what you are thinking.....

1. Kennewick General Hospital
2. Deaconess Regional Medical Center
3. Oregon Health Sciences University Medical Center
4. St. Mary's Hospital
5. Walla Walla General Hospital
6. Merle West Medical Center
7. Valleycare Medical Center
8. St. Patrick Hospital

So there you go, my list for the week. Isn't it exciting? I haven't included places that were just ER visits or places I was only there a day and didn't spend the night or I would have to add 2 or 3 more. Nor did I include the hospital where I was born, as it is no longer existant.
