Little red riding Rowdy

Hwy 94, old hwy 80, Sunrise and back again. Great fun. Almost got my knee down, which after 3 years of only really riding supermoto I'm pretty happy with.

Got some good pics, rode with cool people, saw a a legit plated Aprilia RS250, had a decent top speed and got hit by a cardboard box flying out of a truck on the freeway.

If I could just find some good video editing software above and beyond windows movie maker you'd be seeing awesome video too.

shakedown

Just doing some eaasy stuff to make sure the bike doesn't fall apart. Fun fun fun.

Son of a gun we'll have big fun on the bike-o!

Building and riding. Can't wait to go on some real trails and to go on my mega road trip!!!!! I'm gonna come home awesome or I'm gonna come home with a cast.

Plan to work, work the plan.

So the last fibrin gluing attempt did not stick. Pun intended. After meeting with my surgeon the next steps and overall plan were agreed upon.

I am going to get a shot of the drug Octreotide today. Normally you have to give yourself a shot in the stomach every 8 hours. And we plan for me to be on it for 6 to 8 weeks. I said there is no way I could be compliant with that. In looking around we found a delayed release version that is a shot in the butt just every 4 weeks. I chose that!

What the drug does in this case is reduce your gastric secretions and motility. The hope then is that less material will exit out through the fistulas and then they will close. We are giving this approach 6 weeks to see if it works.

If it does not, the next step is to be on TPN. This would mean no food by mouth at all and just getting it through the special IV line from my arm to my heart. I've put pics up here before of my PICCS. Pun intended. This would go on for about 6 weeks as well. The hope being that pretty much total bowel rest will allow the fistula to heal.

Finally if that does not work, 12 weeks from now, so about October I would begin scheduling for surgery. The surgery would be another big one. Cut more bowel, more tissue, totally reopen and redo it all. He'd like it to be short and simple but there is no guarantee. Then it would be another two months to recover and so on.

That is the plan. Trying things for long enough to know if they will work or not, escalating the seriousness of each step until there is no choice. Surgery. It his opinion that surgery will fix it. He thinks that is the best option. But due to all my previous surgeries and lack of bowel, we have to go through these smaller steps to see if anything else will work.

I wish I had enough gut left for them to just cut and do it. If something is thought to be the best, it is tough to focus on doing intermediate things, just to see if they will work. I want to go with the higher percentage of success. But in the balance that also carries the greatest risk as well.

This is seemingly the story of my entire life and decision making process. Risk vs reward.

Good photos. Nice camera. Good deed. Nice person?

Killer, Romania and I went to Fiesta Island the other night for fire, fireworks, marshmallows and Romania playing with his new Nikon 5100 DSLR.

His pictures ended coming out really good. It is amazing what a 5 second shutter opening can gather in the form of light! Little did I also know I would have to help someone get unstuck from the sand. It's OK to be a beginner, but it is not OK to be a poseur. I was gonna let this guy just do his thing 'cause he had no idea what he was doing and wouldn't listen to anyone.

I loaned him a shovel. He made it worse. I loaned him a light as it was dark and 930pm. He didn't get himself out. At this stage I took pity on him and used my little Toy Tacoma to pull him out of the sand.

Lessons for you dear readers? Of course!
1. When in doubt 'gas it' is not always the right advice when you're stuck.
2. Carry the stuff in your truck to take care of yourself. I had two light sources, a tow strap, two shovels. You get the idea.... Guy didn't even have an eyelet or tow hook on the front of his rig....
3. Never ever buy a two wheel drive truck. It's a total waste. I've seen this mistake made before. It's why I'll never make it.
4. Realize when someone knows more than you and put away your ego. Listen and do what they say. In this case, air down your tires. Dig out in front of the rear wheels. Feather the throttle.

There are 5 WORLD champions in this picture!!
