Fireside

While in SLC I was able to attend a fireside with President Boyd K. Packer. I was 3 rows back from the podium and I think that is the closest I have and will ever been to an apostle.

His message was simple, as human beings we are children of God and after baptism we are blessed with the gift of the Holy Ghost. This allows us to know and feel the things we need to from God. Intuition, conscience or revelation. Call it what you will. To help us in life we need to listen to our feelings and follow them.

With this, obedience and prayer we can face all the difficulties in modern life and be OK.

3..2..1..Drive

From SD to SLC in 9:45. Check that out! And that includes my stops for snacks, gasoline and fireworks! Three states, two time zones, one driver.

Reminds me of when I lived in Yuma and could drive through two countries, two states and two time zones in 30 minutes.

At one point it was 12 degrees outside. On the same drive the Lexus has also seen 113 degrees in the Death Valley portion. And of course the washer fluid in a SD based car was frozen and totally unusable the whole time in SLC.

It is currently about 18 degrees outside. Nice! I just have to say this, Utah drivers are morons. I am going to have some serious road rage issues to deal with in living here. And I think this is the very first time the Lexus as been driven in snow and such. J. came and asked me this morning, "do you have a window scraper?" I just laughed and then J. realized just how silly that question is. K. and I went to jiu jitsu at some place near Sugarhouse, check it out at www.fusionbjj.com I think it was a good school and I like the teaching approach. It was fun to do some no-gi as well. M. and I shot roman candles at each other. I'll post the video soon. Sadly no direct hits. We saved that for the previous nights snowball fight.

you just never know...............

Today I got my email offer inviting me to interview for the graduate/MS program at the University of Utah for Physicians Assistant.

I am in the second wave of interviews, the last part of January. It is now a 50% chance of getting in for me.

Tears of joy!

PS-the Utes just whooped Alabama! HA!

Happy 2009, Good Bye 2008

P. B. D. and I had dinner at the Brigantine in Del Mar at 7:00PM. It was great, I really liked the cioppino. And we got out of there for only $90 for two of us.

Then it was off to Bing Crosby's in Fashion Valley for music, drinks and dancing. Well no dancing, there wasn't really room. A bar/lounge isn't the best place for me to be but I totally behaved. And that is good. P. also knew the entertainment at the spot, so that was nice to. Just a good time with good friends.

And then..................

It was 10:35PM and I was totally tired. 12:00 I can't tell you what was happening then as I was home totally asleep in bed. HAHAHA. I guess it's cause I had no fireworks to shoot off. (Which will be rectified by my drive through Las Vegas Friday!!)

Recap of some feelings from 2008:
1. I learned to like trail running
2. Having health insurance where I had to pay ZERO for two weeks in the hospital is amazingly nice
3. My time in Iraq has a huge hold on me, brief as it was in 2007.
4. If I hadn't stopped doing jiu jitsu when I did I would be a black belt now. Such regret.
5. I love the ocean and the sun and good weather.

There are so many more, but this is it for now.
