Panic at the Disco/No Doubt

Of all the concerts I have seen in the past few years, this one was one of the best "shows". The audio was so-so occasionally but the performances rocked and the lighting/graphics were awesome.

Now I do have to confess a little something here.....

When the "I'm just a girl" video came out and Gwen was doing push ups, ohhhh.... wow. I was in L O V E. That was 1995....

Now in 2009:

I had also watched too many times and enjoyed the movie Tank Girl, which also came out in 1995, so I was primed for this sort of thing.

ANYWAYS.............PATD did a great job opening and played the songs we wanted to hear from them. No Doubt rocked and were awesome from the silhouetted opening to the finish. I'm soooooooo glad I made it and really would have hated to miss this last chance to see them.

You voted for 'shaved legs', and it WORKED!!!

I had my second Super D race in the series put on my Rim Nordic (www.rimnordic.com) and this one went much better. I think that knowing the course and improved fitness are what made the huge difference.

The first race I was last in my class and this race I was fighting for a podium finish and amazingly was quick enough for 3rd. I also cut two minutes off my time!! (which was my personal goal and as a reward I bought a neat t-shirt from the race)

This is a 4 race series, the person leading has only done 1 out of the 3 races so far. A total of 3 of use have now done 2 out of the 3 races. And one of the guys from today has already said he won't make the final race in the series....

So, if I place 3rd again in the final, I will probably be 3rd overall in points for this series!! Woo Hoo!!

(In the Racers and Chasers series I will probably end up 2nd or 1st overall in my class for the summer Super D series, with two races left in it.)

All in all I think riding more hills the past month, riding once in the week prior to the race at similar altitude (8,000 feet), better race craft, riding my dirt motorcycle, and just riding "better" all helped me move from 6th up to 3rd. Today I rode my hard tail Stumpjumper and if I can get to where I climb at the same rate on my Reign full suspension then I think I can pick up the extra minute I need to move up to second place the next race.....

My next race is Saturday the 15th at Cahuilla Creek MX park with the RacersandChasers.com group. (this is the Super D course I helped build and have already won on) Come out and see me!!
(Look close, they are shaved)((rub the screen if you have to, feels smooth doesn't it!)

On my nightstand and in my mind

Right now I am reading:

Foreign Policy magazine
Foreign Affairs magazine
"Everything and Nothing", Jorge Louis Borges
"Lord Jim", Joseph Conrad

I am missing my Cambridge companion reader to Joseph Conrad... I think J. has it.....

To sleep, perchance to dream- ay, there's the rub.

This month's Esquire has a very well written article by a man suffering from the complications of Crohns. In it he talks about his fears, how it has changed him, the damage it has done to his psyche, body and relationships.

I read this right before bed time. Even as I was reading it I knew it was having a strong effect on me. So when I finished that article I thought I would try to displace it from my mind by reading the next article.

It was all about the people who do crash scene investigation after aeronautical disasters.

My mind ran wild, my emotions were uncontrolled and I slept the sleep of the damned afterward.

More hospital hmmmm....

So there I was in the Vons near my place buying a bunch of fresh fruit for dinner to offset the sandwich I had at Islands for lunch.

And what do I see? A woman from the nearby Kaiser hospital who just didn't feel like staying there. Gown? Check. ID bracelet? Check. Jail house tats? Check.

This whack job left the hospital to buy candybars.....

Take a look kids, learn something. Don't let this be you..........

In my best King Julien voice, "Hey Maurice, look at the freak!"

MTWR Pt.II

Driving up to Big Bear Lake yesterday my friends in the truck were giving me grief, like I was "that guy" for my driving.

Truck or not, if it is a curvy road I am late apexing and sliding the vehicle around. I'm sorry you get car sick.

Secondly, yes I can drive down the freeway, text and eat a bowl of oatmeal at the same time!!
