Gold on this red, white and blue.

Ok, almost every 4th of July my entire life has included swimming, shooting guns, fireworks, bbq food and family.

This year is different. In trying to improve my mountain bike racing ability, I decided to race today.

So, for your enjoyment, read this next part to the tune of "Straight outta Compton" by NWA.
You are now about to witness the strength of course knowledge.

Straight outta Daygo a crazy racer named Rowdy
riding a Giant Reign 1 with attitude
When a start is flagged off, I haul off
That's how this race is going out
You too boy if you wanna race with me
No way the competitions gonna catch me
Off this table top, that's how I'm jumpin
fast down the straighs with mah legs pumpin

You get the point. I also have a "Rowdy's got flats" song sung to the "Baby got back" song by Sir Mix-a-Lot.

I also was able to meet R. the guy who I helped the last race that broke his leg and was going into shock. And his mom's dog who was named Rowdy. (as usual. too many dogs and horses named Rowdy) This guy is a Pro and he also showed me a few lines through a few corners that helped me go faster. 1st place is 1st place, ya know?

Video will be up much later. I have a huge file from an onboard camera and it's taking Youtube like two hours to upload it.

Happy 4th of July!!!

Mine eyes have seen the glory of the coming of the Lord
He is trampling out the vintage where the grapes of wrath are stored
He hath loosed the fateful lightning of his terrible swift sword
His truth is marching on.

He has sounded forth the trumpet that shall never call retreat
He is sifting out the hearts of men before his judgment seat
Oh be swift my soul to answer him be jubilant my feet
Our God is marching on.

In the beauty of the lilies Christ was born across the sea
With a glory in his bosom that transfigures you and me
As he died to make men holy let us live to make men free
While God is marching on.

Glory glory hallelujah
Glory glory hallelujah
His truth is marching on.

Cell phone self-portrait download.

Rowdy style, riding in the back of A's truck up Sunrise Hwy.
Looking down on Pine Valley after bombing down Noble Canyon on a Wednesday. And I have no idea if it's legal or not to ride in the truck bed. I did it.
8 hours in one spot, two days a week. EMT school finished July 25th.Last night I noticed how many new TV shows have a strong EMS presence. Once again I am ahead of the cruve in "new".

Quite possibly the greatest picture ever.....

It's the most wonderful time of the year.....

Ah, summer. I do love it so. From May 21st until September 17th are the very best days of the year! (Summer in my world not being constrained to the strict calendar definition)

Right now summer is about to peak! Let me tell you why.

July 3rd is a mountain bike ride in the Laguna Mountains followed by lunch and famous apple pie in Julien.

July 4th is my most favorite 'real' holiday!! While the police and fire department shut down my illegal fireworks for this year I will still have fun! I'm mountain bike racing as well. Somewhere in there will also be great food off the bbq, watermelon and possibly a water fight!

July 5th is the MotoGP races up at Laguna Seca. This event is my Super Bowl. Other people skip work on church for that football game, I do it for this motorcycle race. VALE VALE VALE VALE!

July 11th is another big bbq and I think I am somehow entered into an eating contest! HAH!

July 13th M. shows up and I begin to teach him how to ride a motorcycle. A real one in the dirt at the track, not a little 50 around the neighborhood.

July 19th K shows up and gets his motorcyle lessons as well!! Vroom!

July 25th I am finished with EMT school and can take the NREMT exam.

July 31st is a possible trip to Colorado to visit my brother and to attend the Crankworks mountain bike festival at Trestles mountain bike park. This is a big MAYBE though...

You don't even want me to get started on August or September!! It would be a summertime funtime explosion overload!

Another childhood memory shattered........

Ok, I just stayed up "late" on a school night to watch the movie "Breakin". Now this is not the first time I have seen this movie.

Truth be told I saw this movie in the theater with my brother. I distinctly remember going to the theater in Richland, Washington and me and J being the only white kids there. Also the lady seating us saying, "No dancing in the aisles."

Couple things....

One, when was the last time an employee at a movie theater helped seat anyone?

Two, this movie is the gggggggggaaaaaaayyyyyyest movie I have ever seen and didn't realize it at the time. People think Top Gun is homoerotic? Watch "Breakin" with your modern adult eyes.

Breakin? Totally gee ay why.

What's next? Is someone going to tell me "The Fox and the Hound" was a crappy movie?
